Step 1
Apply for the correct type of visa
to enter Romania. Ask for a transit visa, good for five days, if you are
continuing travel to another country without leaving a Romanian
airport. Apply for a short-term visa, valid for 90 days, if you are a
tourist, missionary or athlete. People reuniting with family, those
married to a Romanian national or visiting the country for extended
business or higher education need a long-term visa, which may be
renewable after 90 days.
Step 2
Download the visa application form
from the Embassy of Romania's website and fill it out in its entirety.
Attach a copy of your passport picture to the top of the application.
Fill in your passport number; your passport must be valid for at least
90 days after your departure from Romania.
Step 3
Schedule an appointment with the
closest Romanian consulate. The embassy is located in Washington D.C.;
consulates are found in Los Angeles, Chicago and New York. Your visa
application will be processed in person, and you will be mailed your
visa.
Step 4
Pay for your visa with cash or a
money order made payable to the Embassy of Romania. Visa processing fees
for short-stay and transit visas are $81 each as of March 2011.
Long-stay visa fees are $162.
