Requirements To Obtain A VISA To Enter Portugal

Passport Information
  • Passport must be valid 6 months beyond intended stay

  • The original passport must be submitted and should have at least two blank visa pages for processing.

  • Non U.S. Citizens must provide a notarized copy, front and back of a U.S. Green card or I-94; in order to have a visa processed.

  • U.S. Citizens do not need a visa for tourist or business to Portugal for stays up to 90 days.
  • Portugal is a member of the European Schengen States and requires for all applicants to appear in person at the time of submission and processing, a third party visa service cannot be used to process a visa on the behalf of the client.

Tourist Visa
  • Passport must be singed & valid for at least 6 months beyond intended stay.

  • Your valid Passport (must have at least 6 months validity remaining)

  • 2 Visa Application Forms - Non US Citizen - Link

  • 2 Passport-Type Photographs.

  • A valid copy of a drivers license.

  • Copy of airline tickets or itinerary.

Business Visa
  • Passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond intended stay.

  • 2 Visa Application Forms – Link fully completed and signed.

  • 2 Passport-type photographs required

  • Notarized Copy of U.S. Alien Registration Card (Green Card).

  • Proof of Health and Travel/Accident insurance.

  • Copy of itinerary or air tickets.

  • Letter of Invitation from host/company in Portugal.

  • A business Letter of Guarantee – Link from employer in USA, to attention of "Consulate of Portugal, Visa Section", explaining purpose of travel, duties to be performed, and guaranteeing financial support for the traveler, including return transportation to the USA. Letter should be signed by a company officer other than the applicant.

  • A valid copy of a drivers license.

Work Visa
  • Passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond intended stay.

  • 2 Visa Application Forms – Link fully completed and signed.

  • 2 Passport-type photographs required

  • Notarized Copy of U.S. Alien Registration Card (Green Card).
  • Letter of Invitation from host/company in Portugal.

  • A business Letter of Guarantee – Link from employer in USA, to attention of "Consulate of Portugal, Visa Section", explaining purpose of travel, duties to be performed, and guaranteeing financial support for the traveler, including return transportation to the USA. Letter should be signed by a company officer other than the applicant.
  • The work contract, signed by both parties confirming the period of employmnet, salary, benefits, proof of financial support, and housing/accommodations while in Portugal. These documents must be either in Portugese or translated.
  • Note - Companies in portucal hiring salaried workers must request previous approval from the IEFP (Instituto de Emprego e Formacao Profissional) and from the IGT (Inspeccao Geral do Trabalho). Proof of approval should accompany the application. 
  • Proof of Health and Travel/Accident insurance that will be valid in Portugal
  • An authentic and valid criminal record certificate that is issued by the proper U.S. authorities, authenticated with the seal and signature of issuing authority. This document must be translated and legalized by the consulate.
  • Certified copies of the pages of applicants valid passport showintg photo and personal data.
  • Copy of Marriage Certificate (for the couple).
  • Copy of Birth Certificates (for the children).

Other Information
  • Vaccinations - International Certificate of Vaccination required for Yellow Fever if Arriving from Infected Area within 5 days
