Indonesian Work Permit

Working in Indonesia

There are strict and complicated immigration requirements for foreign nationals wishing to live and work in Indonesia. Read on to find out about the Indonesia visa requirements.

Employment visa for Indonesia

This visa for Indonesia is for applicants intending to take up paid work in Indonesia. It is a single-entry visa valid for up to 60 days. To obtain a work permit for Indonesia, applicants must supply supporting letters from their company or sponsor, both at home and in Indonesia. This should state the reason for the visit and its proposed duration. Evidence of sufficient funds to cover the proposed stay will also be needed.

Limited stay permit/temporary resident permit

Visitors needing an Indonesian work permit for a longer stay (five weeks is the normal permit period) may be able to obtain a VITAS (Visa Izin Tinggal Terbatas) or temporary resident visa. This can be granted by the Immigration Office in Indonesia for a period of up to 12 months, with the possibility of extension.
