Studying in Indonesia
Getting a visa to study
in Indonesia is a three-stage process, which involves first obtaining a
social/cultural visit visa. A student visa can only be issued once you
are in Indonesia. Click on the link above to take our free assessment

Social/cultural visit visa
This type of Indonesia visa is
required for those who wish to study in Indonesia, undertake research or
training, or take part in a student exchange scheme. This is a
single-entry visa, valid for a maximum of 60 days. (Tourist visas are
not convertible and therefore not valid as the first stage in this
process.) Applicants will need to provide a letter of registration from
their educational institute in Indonesia and evidence that all the
necessary fees have been paid in advance.
Student visa for Indonesia
Once in the country, students must apply to
the Immigration Head Office to convert their social visit visa into a
student visa. They will also need a stay permit, also known as a
temporary or limited stay permit. Applicants should consult the Student
Administration Office at their university or college
for help. A Regional Immigration Office will issue the student visa and
temporary stay permit, which is valid for 12 months. Up to four
12-month extensions can be granted.
Visas issued on Approval
Students from some countries may
also require approval from the Immigration Office in Indonesia before
they can obtain a social/cultural visit visa. For guidance on your
